Caroline

 

My name is Caroline and I am from Wisconsin. I am 23 years old and recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Psychology. I worked at a Psychiatric Hospital for 1 year in a Residential unit as a Residential Counselor. I spent my days with children, ages 13-18, who were diagnosed with a myriad of severe psychiatric disorders. The unit I worked for was nationally recognized for their specialization in  Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in teens. Living in the real world for a year taught me a lot but it also solidified the idea that I wanted to experience something grandiose and out of my comfort zone before settling down and entering the workforce for the next 100 years. I decided that living in a different country may just be the way to make my free-spirited dreams a reality.

Lj is my wonderful and amazing boyfriend of 4 years. He graduated from UW-Madison in 2012 and has spent the past two years working in Education outreach programs. Lj worked with inner city kids from Milwaukee in 2013 and worked at an Environmental Education Montessori Program in 2014. I would not be so delusion to think I can successfully live and thrive in South East Asia if it weren’t for my gentle giant. LJ and I are taking a hiatus from American life and moving to Thailand to teach English. We are teaching in a secondary school together in a village of approximately 3,500 people. We are so excited and hope for the experience of a lifetime. Thanks for reading and being a part of our adventure.
